Three-quarter standing studio view of Picard in uniform. He wears a single-breasted coat with shoulder straps and a sash. He holds a slouch hat with hat cord and insignia. Clear image with very good contrast. Period pencil identification on lower edge of mount. Photographer’s backmark, J.W. Black, Boston.
From Littleton MA., he was a 28 year-old physician when he enlisted as an Asst. Surgeon on 7/3/1863 with the Field & Staff of 1st Mass. Infantry. Picard was Mustered Out on 5/28/1864 and commissioned again on 9/1/1864 into Field & Staff of 115th USCT Infantry. He died of disease on 7/19/1865 at Indianola, TX. [jet] [ph:L]
