A bust view of Lincoln recorded at the White House in 1864. Image is clear with good contrast on plain mount. No backmark. Modern pencil notations of back.
This is a from-life view taken at the White House by Wenderoth & Taylor of Philadelphia. The photographers advertised that they took this image at the White House in 1864.
Wenderoth & Taylor were located at 812-814 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Ostendorf suggests a date of March or April 1864 for the image. [jet] [ph:L]
