Seated studio view of Flanders in uniform. He has a single-breasted frock and holding his forage cap in his lap. The kepi has crossed cannons and other insignia. Clear image with good detail and contrast. A light ink signature is found on lower edge of mount. Photographer's backmark, D.O. Furnald, Manchester, NH. A blue revenue stamp is also on the back.
Edwin Flanders was 18 years-old when he enlisted on August 11, 1863 as a private in the 2nd NH Heavy Artillery. He mustered out September 11, 1865.
