Very nice, clean, CDV of Lee posed in a left profile wearing his Confederate uniform. His double-breasted frockcoat has a turned down collar with his insignia of rank clearly visible.
Contrast and clarity are outstanding. Paper and mount are excellent. The bottom center of the mount has a period ink ID of “GEN. R. E. LEE.”
Reverse is blank but for collector information in pencil.
From the collection of the late William A. Turner.
Wonderful image from life of one of the country’s most famous generals. [ad] [ph:L]
