CDV shows General Lee posed holding his slouch hat by his side with one arm resting on the hilt of his sword. He wears a light-colored double-breasted frockcoat with the general’s rank insignia clearly visible on the collar, dark trousers and knee-high boots. He also wears his waist belt with sword attached and has a binocular case slung over his shoulder and gauntlets on his hands.
Contrast and clarity are good but the mount has browned some. Mount also has some edge wear at bottom. Front bottom of the mount is marked BENDANN… BALTIMORE.”
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint of BENDANN BROS… BALTIMORE and a canceled 2 cent tax stamp with collector information in pencil. Surface of the reverse has also browned some.
From the collection of the late William A. Turner. [AD] [PH:L]
