Bust view of General Darius Couch. Couch was an American soldier, businessman, and naturalist. He served as a career U.S. Army officer during the Mexican–American War, the Second Seminole War, and as a general officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Image is clear with good detail and some minor marks. The corners on the card are slightly worn. Written on the reverse in ink “Darius N. Couch Maj. Gen. Vols. U.S.A.” followed by some dates significant to Couch. The photographer’s backmark reads “Published by E. & H. T. Anthony from photographic negative, In Brady’s collection”. [am] [PH:L]
