This CDV images features a two-thirds seated view of General Hugh Judson Kilpatrick wearing a double-breasted frock coat with velvet cuffs and collar. His trousers bear the typical gold cavalry stripe down the pant legs. His slouch hat rests on his knee while his hands are covered in leather gloves.
A modern pencil note of “Kilpatrick” is noted on the bottom of the card mount.
On the reverse, we see the backmark of C.D. Fredericks & Co. / 587 Broadway / New York.
Several pencil inscriptions from varying time periods note that this is General Kilpatrick. A period ink inscription notes the same along the right-hand side.
Modern collector’s notes are present on the reverse.
Overall, this image of Kilpatrick is clear but shows some dirt on the image, as does the reverse.
This image came from the Ray Richey collection of images. [CLS] [ph:L]
