Bust view of Dow in civilian clothing after the war. Image is clear with very good contrast. No photographer's backmark. Modern pencil identification on back.A copy of a modern tag from previous sale accompanies the photo with history.

Dow was from Bath, NH and was 20 years old when he enlisted on 7/30/1861 as a Private in the 3rd NH Infantry. He was promoted through the ranks to Captain by January of 1864. He was discharged on 10/7/1864.

He died 2/6/1875 in Detroit, MI and is buried in Grove Hill Cemetery, Lisbon, NH.  [jet] [ph:L]
