This carte de viste is a clear bust view of General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson in uniform. The top buttons of his double-breasted coat are visible as well as his collar insignia. Image is clear with good contrast. Wonderful quality.
Mount is clean and untrimmed. Photographer's backmark is Lumpkin & Tomlinson, Richmond, VA. There is also a 2-cent revenue stamp on the back. Stamp is dated October 4th, 1865 in ink.
Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson (January 21, 1824 – May 10, 1863) was a Confederate general during the Civil War, and became one of the best-known Confederate commanders, after Robert E. Lee. He played a prominent role in nearly all military engagements in the Eastern Theater of the war until his death. Military historians regard him as one of the most gifted tactical commanders in U.S. history.
