Bust view. Image is clear with light contrast. Photographer's backmark, New Orleans Photographic Company. Period ink identification and "art work" on back including Confederate flags.

Mather enlisted on March 6, 1862 as a Private in the 5th Company of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans. Promoted to Corporal in summer of 1864. Surrendered to General Canby on May 4, 1865.
