Seated studio view. Image is clear with very good contrast. Galbraith wears dark jacket with cuff and collar trim, trousers with a two-tone stripe down the leg, and a nice kepi. No photographer's backmark.
Galbraith enlisted on May 26, 1861 as a Sergeant in the 1st Company of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on November 2, 1861 and then to 1st Lieutenant one month later. Captured at Fredericksburg on May 3, 1863 and paroled from Old Capitol Prison on May 18, 1863. Wounded at Drewry's Bluff on May 16, 1864 and died from that wound on September 19. He is buried in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
