CDV is a full-standing view of a Confederate officer leaning against a column. He wears a light-colored shell jacket with lighter trousers. At his waist is a belt with rectangular plate but the device on the plate cannot be discerned.
Contrast is very light. Mount and paper have light surface dirt.
Reverse has photographer’s imprint for E. J. REES & CO… RICHMOND, VA. Top has “CAPT. WELLS” in period pencil with some collector information at bottom in pencil also.
From the collection of the late William A. Turner. [ad] [ph:L]
