CDV is a waist-up view of Triplett wearing a dark civilian suit with black collar, white shirt and dark bowtie.
Contrast and clarity are excellent. Paper and mount are very good. Bottom of mount has the photographer’s mark for J. W. HULL of PARKERSBURG, W. VA.
Reverse is blank but for “TRIPLETT” in pencil and some collector information. ID is confirmed by several identified on-line images.
John Richards Triplett was born on May 11, 1845 in Richmond, Virginia. He was a member of the VMI Class of 1866 and served as a corporal in Company D of the Cadet Battalion at New Market.
After the war he was in the manufacturing business and died on May 28, 1882 leaving behind a wife and four children. He is buried in Shockoe Hill Cemetery in Richmond. [ad] [ph:L]
