This three-quarter seated view is ID on the reverse in modern pencil as “L. LONDEAU 4^th N.H. INF” and with the image is a Xerox copy of Londeau’s listing on civilwardata.com showing the same image as offered here.

Image shows Londeau seated and holding his kepi in his lap. He wears a dark sack coat with matching vest underneath and light trousers. Attached to the front of his kepi is a small numeral “2.”

Image is clear with very good contrast. Mount corners are clipped.

Reverse has the modern ID in pencil mentioned above.

Louis Londeau was born in Canada. He was 19 years old when he enlisted as a Private in Company I, 4^th New Hampshire Infantry on August 16, 1861. Londeau went with his regiment aboard ship and sailed to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina where he became ill and was discharged for disability on December 27, 1861.

Why there is a number “2” on his cap when he was in the 4^th regiment is anyone’s guess. Nothing is known of his post war life.    [ad][ph:L]
