Full standing studio cdv image of Commodore Silas H. Stringham in uniform.

Image is clear with good contrast. Stringham is standing, wearing his double-breasted frock coat. He wears his sword belt with two-piece naval buckle and sword hanging at his side. His cap sits on a table at his side. Cap displays the wreath and Eagle with fouled anchor insignia nicely.

Typical ruled cdv mount in good untrimmed condition. Period ink identification along bottom edge. San Francisco photographer’s backmark over typical E.& H.T. ANTHONY, NEW YORK imprint.

Rear Admiral Silas Horton Stringham (November 7, 1798 – February 7, 1876) was an officer of the United States Navy who saw active service during the War of 1812, the Second Barbary War, and the Mexican–American War, and who commanded the Atlantic Blockading Squadron at the beginning of the American Civil War.  [jet]   [ph:L]
