A nice looking, framed display of photos of Robert E. Lee and Mary Custis Lee. These are reproduction CDVs mounted vertically in a cut out matt in a frame measuring 9-1/2” by 16-1/2” overall. Both images are correctly sized for carte-de-visites, measuring 2-1/2” by 4” and show some fading. They are convincing, but are modern copies. The R.E. Lee image is from a postwar view in civilian clothes, shown in a bust view turned slightly to the viewer’s right, on a yellow mount. The Mary Custis Lee image is faded, retouched profile view with ink identification at the bottom.
This shows off very well and is a good decorator or library piece. [sr] [ph:L]
