This Carte-de-Visite features a vignette bust view General John Reynolds. The image is in excellent condition with no damage, and mounted to a typical card with gold line bordering. The edges of both the image and card are sharp and clean. Two nearly imperceptible areas of edge rolling are noted at the upper left and lower right corners.
The reverse is labeled “Reynolds 44” in penciled script with a stylized photographer’s back mark reading “Published by E & H.T. ANTHONY, / 501 Broadway, New York. / MANUFACTURERS / of the best / PHOTOGRAPHIC ALBUMS”. Four very small spots of foxing can be seen below the back mark. Overall measurements are 2.4” x 3.9”.
A rare image for the discerning collector of Civil War photography. [cm] [ph:L]
