For a time, Don Carlos Buell was a titan of the Western Theater, but ultimately deemed too cautious for the needs of the higher command and relieved in late 1862.
This CDV is in excellent condition, with a crisp and clear image and double blue-bordered mounting card. The lower left corner (front) is embossed “WEBSTER & BRO. LOUISVILLE” and a penciled label reads “GEN. DON CARLOS BUELL”. The reverse is clean, with a penciled notation reading “Gen Buell / DON CARLOS / BUELL / COMDR. OF THE ARMY OF THE OHIO IN THE SHILOH CAMP. / P. 78 “DIVIDED WE FOUGHT”. All edges and corners are complete and generally sharp.
An excellent image for the collector of notable Civil War figures. [cm] [ph:L]
