While recognized for his adept handling of logistics, he was famously derided by those who served under him as a needlessly aggressive and reckless commander – often at the unnecessary expense of his men’s lives.
This image features him in a seated position with a right-facing view. The image is mounted to a typical card with a common gold border pattern and an embossment which reads “WEBSTER & BRO / LOUISVILLE”. The reverse is clean, with a period signature reading “Kilpatrick” (not in his hand) and penciled markings reading “$250.00 / CDV / #1198”.
An excellent image of one of the Civil War’s more controversial figures. [cm] [ph:L]
