This Carte-de-Visite features the iconic General Burnside, known for his small victories and larger blunders as well as his facial hair. Both the image and mounting card are in excellent condition, with the card sporting a gold border pattern and scripted “Brady” commercial logo at bottom left.
The reverse features a penciled heading reading “gen. Burnside”. A stylized photographer back mark reads “BRADY’S NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT GALLERIES, Broadway & Tenth Street, New York & No.352 Pennsylvania Av. Washington D.C.” A penciled label at the bottom reads “A.F. BURNSIDE” – though his middle name is Everts.
An absolute gem of a CDV, fit for the most selective of collectors. [cm][ph:L]
