A gilt wood and plaster, floral decorated hanging frame holding a portrait of Lincoln. The frame measures 5-1/4 by 4 inches overall. The opening is 2 by 1-3/4 inches. We have not examined the image out of the frame, but it is certainly a carte-de-visite format albumen photographic copy of a lithograph portrait bust of Lincoln on an embossed paper mount for the oval image.
Untouched condition as shown, with cracks and losses to the frame and soiling and stains to the card. The backing is a white cardstock showing some cracks and losses. A wire hanger is in place on the back. Very likely an 1865, immediately post-assassination memorial. [sr][ph:L]
