Major General Philip Kearny (1815-1862), a famous one-armed Union general known for his bravery in the Mexican-American War and Civil War, who was killed at the Battle of Chantilly. He was a distinguished officer, the first American awarded the French Legion of Honor, and developed corps badges, earning nicknames like "The One-Armed Devil" for his daring tactics.
This is a very fine CDV bust view in profile. The very top of his frock coat is visible. Portrait is very clear and crisp. Image is pasted to typical double ruled mount. The mount looks to be very slightly trimmed. Faded back mark from C.D. Fredericks & Co.
A nice crisp, clean cdv photo of Kearney. [jet][ph:L]
