This is a carte de visite (CDV) of Vincent Osburn. Bust view wearing civilian clothes. Image is clear with good contrast; some light stains and foxing overall. Mount remains in good condition with only worn corners. Signed in pencil at bottom, "Vincent Osburn". Photographer's backmark, J.C. Elrod, Louisville, KY. In pencil on back is "Morgan's Men / Co. B. / 10th Ky Cav."

Osburn enlisted in August of 1862 at Clarksville, KY. The 10th Cavalry Regiment contained men from Kentucky and Virginia. The unit served in the Department of East Tennessee and the Department of Western Virginia and East Tennessee, and skirmished in various conflicts in Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. In the spring of 1865 it disbanded.
