John Adams Dix (1798–1879) was a prominent American politician and Union Major General during the Civil War. Though a period Democrat, he staunchly supported the Union and played several key roles in both the political and military arenas of the conflict.

His image is mounted to a clipped card (bottom corners) with double gold line patterning.  The reverse is clean with an Anthony of New York commercial back mark.
