This carte de visite (cdv) photograph is identified to a member of the 11th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Chest up view shows the man in a non-regulation cavalry shell jacket; with a short collar. Image is pasted on to a typical ruled mount with the corners just very slightly trimmed. The is some finger printing and foxing but image is clear and unaffected. On the back in period pen and ink reads, “Your as ever, Geo. Robinson Co. B 11th P V Cav near Portsmouth Virginia” along with modern collector notations.

George Robinson enlisted on 8/19/1861 as a Private in Company “B” of the 11th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Promoted to Corporal 10/22/1862, and Commissary Sergeant 8/16/1864. He was wounded on 6/29/1864 at Reams' Station, VA, and Mustered Out on 8/13/1865 at Manchester, VA.  [jet] [ph:L]
