Seated studio view of a black woman with a white baby in her arms. She wears a nice dark print dress and the baby wears a long white christening-type dress. Two other children also pose in the photo; presumably an older brother and sister. Image is clear with very good contrast. Ruled mount with photographer's name on lower edge on front and with backmark, Grotecloss, New York. A revenue stamp is also on the back.
Image is from the late William Turner collection. [jet] [ph:L]
