Full-standing studio view of sergeant in uniform. He wears a nine-button frock with first sergeant chevrons, forage cap, sash, and sword belt. He poses with NCO sword in front of himself. Clear image with good contrast. Top corners of mount are slightly trimmed. Cut paper label with photographer's imprint pasted to back, Pein & Co., Washington, DC.
