Cool image of four unidentified Union soldiers posed in front of a painted backdrop of a porch railing and a large tree. The subjects are posed with two standing at rear and two seated at front. All wear dark sack coats and light trousers. The two men in the front wear their dark forage caps while the fellow at back right holds his in his hand.

Contrast and clarity are excellent. Mount and paper are very good.

Reverse has a blue 2 cent tax stamp dating the photo between August 1864 to August 1866. There is also some faint collector information in pencil at bottom.  [ad] [ph:L]
