CDV FULL STANDING VIEW OF AN UNIDENTIFIED UNION CAVALRYMAN

$100.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1138-1053

The unknown subject stands at the position of “ATTENTION” looking proudly into the camera. He wears a dark cavalry shell jacket with a low collar. A close inspection shows the collar has only one horizontal stripe and button on each side. He also wears light-colored trousers and boots, with the trousers tucked in the boot tops. His hands are at his side and in his right hand he holds a forage cap with oilcloth cover. At his waist is his saber belt with rectangular plate and cap box. The saber drops are visible at his left side but no saber is attached.

Contrast and clarity are excellent. Mount is good with only light surface dirt. Paper has three scattered water or light ink spots across the top but none touch the subject.

Reverse has no photographer’s imprint but does have 3 canceled brown 1 cent stamps and some collector information in pencil.

Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner.  [ad] [ph:L]
