CDV is a full-seated view of a Confederate officer wearing a double-breasted light-colored frock coat and matching trousers. Visible on the collar are the two parallel bars of a 1st lieutenant. Coat also has piping visible on the cuffs and galloons can be seen on the sleeves. At the subject’s waist is his sash.
Clarity is good but the contrast is light. Mount has edge wear and the mount and paper have some surface dirt and discoloration.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for MRS. DENNISON… LIMA, OHIO. Top has a faint pencil notation of “P.O.W.” Bottom also has collector information in pencil.
Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner.
Most likely this officer is one of Morgan’s Raiders. Perhaps deeper research will produce an ID. [ad] [ph:L]
