Photo is a waist-up view of an unidentified Confederate colonel striking a Napoleonic pose. He wears a medium gray double-breasted frock coat with the three stars of a colonel on his collar with galloons on his sleeves. He also wears a sword belt with shoulder support strap and rectangular plate.
Contrast and clarity are excellent. Mount and paper are very nice with just a tiny bit of surface dirt on the mount at bottom.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for MORSE’S GALLERY OF THE CUMBERLAND… NASHVILLE, TENN. Reverse also has a negative number and two cancelled 1 cent tax stamps.
Image is from a Tennessee album. [ad] [ph:L]
