Photo is a waist-up view of an unidentified Confederate major posed in a slight right profile. He wears a medium gray double-breasted frock coat with light piping along the edge of the front placket. Barely visible toward the front of his collar under his beard is the edge of a single star.
Contrast and clarity are excellent. Mount and paper have light surface dirt.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for HUGHES & SALTSMAN… NASHVILLE, TENN. Reverse also has a cancelled 2 cent tax stamp.
