This is a salt print carte de visite of an unidentified Confederate artillery officer. Full-standing studio view wearing single-breasted frock coat with shoulder straps. He also has knee-high riding boots and a sword belt. One hand is on his M1840 Artillery saber and the other rests on a side table where his kepi rests.
The kepi features braid and a small crossed cannon insignia. Image is clear with good contrast. Mount remains in excellent condition. No photographer's backmark.
