Mr. Turner was well-known for his fine collection of Confederate images, many coming from albums and family collections with provenance. This image Mr. Turner marked simply as “JONES. VA. PRIVATE CSA.”
The CDV is of a young mustached man wearing a dark civilian suit and dark bowtie.
Contrast and clarity are good. Mount is good but the paper has some scattered spots of discoloration.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for B. F. EVANS & SON… NORFOLK, VA.
There is also some collector information in pencil as well as Mr. Turner’s information mentioned above. [AD] [ph:L]
