Image is of a middle-aged man with well-coiffed hair and a goatee. Examination of the photo reveals that the subject wears a dark vest with brass buttons. Over this, he has a light-colored coat with turned-down lapels and three-piece brass buttons and finally, a light–colored overcoat with brass buttons and a turned-down collar. A close look at the turned-down collar on the overcoat will reveal the two horizontal bars of a 1st lieutenant’s rank.
Contrast and clarity are very good. Paper is clean but the mount corners have been rounded.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for CHS R. REES & CO… RICHMOOND, VA. There is also some collector information in pencil.
Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [AD] [PH:L]
