CDV is of an unidentified Confederate lieutenant posed with one hand resting on the back of a chair that is partially covered by a curtain while the other hand rests on his hip. The subject wears a light-colored double-breasted frock coat with the single bar of a 2nd lieutenant on his collar. He also wears very light trousers with a thin dark leg stripe.
Contrast and clarity are very good. Mount edges have been trimmed. Paper is good.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for J. H. VAN STAVOREN… NASHVILLE, TENN. Reverse also has some collector information in pencil. Reverse shows a faint crease running diagonally across the back but it is not visible from the front.
Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [ad][ph:L]
