Image is a full standing view of two young fellows who are no doubt brothers. Both are posed with their drums and sticks. Both boys have a strong resemblance and both sport rather long hair.
The youngest of the two cannot be more than 5 or 6 years old. He wears a medium-colored jacket with matching trousers and striped socks. The jacket has ball buttons on the cuffs with what look like military cuff buttons down the front but it is hard to be sure. His trousers stop at the lower shin exposing his striped socks. Around his waist is an enlisted man’s belt with Pattern 1839 oval US plate. He wears his small drum hooked to his sagging waistbelt and holds his sticks at the ready.
The older of the two boys looks to be between 8-10 years old. He wears light-colored jacket and trousers with a white shirt and dark bowtie. He also wears his full-sized drum on a cloth sling that has a carpet bag type pattern on it. He holds his sticks at the ready. Clearly visible on the drum is the usual painted eagle motif found on regulation drums.
Contrast and clarity are excellent. Paper and mount are very clean. Mount corners have been clipped.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for MILLER & ROWELL… BOSTON. [ad][ph:L]
