The unknown subject is posed by a by a column and slightly leaning on his drawn cavalry saber. He wears a dark forage cap, dark cavalry shell jacket and light trousers. At his waist is his sword belt with plate. The empty metal scabbard for his saber is by his left side.
Contrast and clarity are good. Mount and paper have light dirt.
Reverse is blank but for a name in period pencil of “E” or “C??? BILLINGTON.” There is also some collector information in pencil. [ad][ph:L]
