This is a fine CDV image of a lone soldier sitting at the flap of his camp tent. Other tents and trees visible in background. Soldier is wearing a 9-button frock coat and kepi. He has a musket cradled in his arm. Another musket and leather accoutrements are visible on the tent pole. Blanket covered cots are visible in the tent.
Rockwood & Co., New York backmark. Orange Revenue stamp on back as well as ink inscription, “Yours & C, C.H. Lindley.”
Clean image and mount. Rare outdoor photograph. See also item #490-6862 for similarities; apparently recorded at same time in same camp. [jet][ph:L]
