CDV is a full standing view of an unidentified US Navy Engineering officer. He stands leaning on the post of balustrade which holds his cap with engineer insignia in a wreath on the front of the crown. He wears a dark double-breasted frock coat with brush epaulettes and visible rank on his cuffs. He also wears matching dark trousers. At his waist is his plain black leather sword belt with two-piece Navy buckle with a Model 1852 Naval Officer’s sword hanging by his side.
Contrast and clarity are excellent. Mount has clipped lower corners but otherwise the mount and paper are in good condition.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for J. W. HURN… PHILADLEPHIA. [AD] [ph:L]
