This is a full standing, studio view of a Union soldier in uniform. He wears plain trousers, a four-button “sack” coat, and unadorned kepi. The back drop features the image of a horse. Apparently a set of reins was attached to the painting by the clever photographer allowing this soldier appear to be in the field holding the animal.

The mount has been slightly trimmed on top corners. “Thos. Cummings, Lancaster, PA” b/m.

Image is faded with obvious water stains; priced accordingly.  [jet][ph:L]
