Offered here is a nice studio photograph of an unidentified Union Naval Lieutenant in uniform. Man is seated, wearing a double-breasted frock with shoulder boards, hold his officer cap. He sports a single line of sleeve rank, while his hat device and boards show a fouled anchor.
Condition is good, with light foxing of the mounting card along the front edges. Corners are complete, with mild rolling. Reverse features a stylized photographer’s back mark logo reads “C.H. WILLIAMSON, BROOKLYN. ESTABLISHED 1851.” Light foxing is noted on the reverse, primarily at center and low right.
A very striking Civil War naval photograph for the collector of fine images. [cm][ph:L]
