Hinged case is meant to house a quarter-plate sized wet plate image. Outside of case shows a raised Victorian- era image of a well-dressed man with horse, conversing with others. Inside is lined in embossed brown velvet. Maker’s imprint is present, “A.P. CRITCHLOW & CO.” and has a patent date of 1856 & 1857.
