This is an empty case just waiting for your photos. Two compartments approximately 2” x 2 ½”.
The thermoplastic case is in very good condition. Two brass hinges and two catches. Paper label on one side reads, “Littlefield, Parsons & Co., Manufacturer of Daguerreotype Cases. L., P. & Co., are the sole proprietors and only legal manufacturers of UNION CASES, with embracing riveted hinge. Patented October 14, 1856, and April 21, 1857.” Embossed velvet lining on top half. Back half of case is rather plain with a simple oval pattern. Front of case features a floral pattern around the edges, a central oval, and a mother with child, dog, and cat in her lap.

This musket is stamped “42. VA. REGT. PITTSYLVANIA” on the barrel, was later altered to percussion and then shortened for use in the civilian market. It is a scarce survivor from muskets delivered to Virginia by Jame Swan of Boston in January… (1000-241). Learn More »
