Very nice conditioned Union case for housing a sixth-plate ambro or tintype.
The exterior pattern is titled Geometric Floral and is in excellent condition. The raised pattern is sharp and free of nicks. There are a few very small nicks on the edge where one would handle the case to open it. Brass hinges are in excellent condition.
Interior has the usual stamped brass frame with a scalloped brass mat. Glass is also present. Complete paper label inside is for A. P. CRITCHLOW & CO. with a hinge patent date of Oct. 14, 1856 and a handwritten date underneath of April 21, 1857. Interior pad is brown with no decoration. [AD][ph:L]
