The heavily bearded subject is seated and holding a large baritone saxhorn in his lap. He wears a dark forage cap with a light band around the base of the crown, dark frock coat and matching dark trousers. The subject’s collar is not visible under his beard but there does not seem to be any piping on the one visible cuff. Could be militia, could be Confederate, either way it is a great image.
Contrast and clarity are good. Condition is excellent.
Image comes with the decorative brass mat and stamped brass frame and a half leather case with an attached ring at the top for hanging on the wall. [ad] [ph:L]
