Image is a chest up view of a young man, possibly in his late teens, wearing a dark civilian suit, white shirt and bowtie.
Image has very good clarity and contrast and comes housed in the usual scrollwork brass mat and frame.
The best part of this ninth plate is the Union case in which it comes. The exterior is in excellent condition with a raised decoration at center of growing corn, crossed sheaves of wheat, a plow and an anvil surrounded by a beautiful, deep scroll decoration.
Exterior is free of chips or cracks and all the lines on the case are sharp.
Interior has a red crushed felt pillow with an embossed floral decoration. [ad] [PH:L]
