This is a nice image of a seated Confederate officer in uniform. This is a 1/4-plate ambrotype with mat, glass, and wrapped frame; all in a half case.
Soldier wears a dark overcoat with brass buttons, a double-breasted officer’s jacket, trousers, and slouch hat. Buttons are gilted as is rank insignia on collar which, unfortunately, is just barely showing above overcoat and not enough to determine rank. Contrast is good; some minor emulsion issues as is typical with ambrotypes.
A nice view of a Confederate officer. [jet][ph:L]
