Image shows an outside scene by a barn of a farrier shoeing a horse, while another man holds the reigns. To the right, two men are observing. Image is very clear with excellent contrast. Oxidation has occurred in areas.
Image is housed in full gutta percha case. Case is lined in embossed brown velvet. Behind image manufacturer’s paper label has the patent date of 1856. There is a hand written inscription on label that reads, “CENTREVILLE ILL / FEB 21 1859 / F.A. SEIBERT”. Case is in fair condition with some chipping on corners and horizontal crack at the lower edge on reverse side. [sl]
