Waist-up view of a bearded Union officer wearing a dark forage cap with embroidered infantry hunting horn insignia with the number “4” at center on the front of the crown, a dark single-breasted frockcoat and light trousers. At his waist is his sash and sword belt. The officer also wears gauntlets and is posed cradling his Model 1850 foot officer’s sword in his lap. The subject’s cheeks are also lightly tinted.
The clarity of the image is excellent and the contrast is good. Image is very clean.
Photo has decorative brass mat and stamped brass frame and comes in an excellent union case with a geometric exterior decoration. [ad] [ph:L]
